The University of Porto “stopped” last Monday, April 20, at noon, in a moment of national recognition of the life time and work of José Mariano Gago, former Minister of Science and Technology, who died last April 17.
For 5 minutes, teachers, researchers, employees and students gathered in front of the colleges, research centers, institutes, autonomous services and the Rectory of the U.Porto as a way to honor Mariano Gago .
For future memory stays the life and work of a man who was, in the words of the Rector of the University of Porto, “largely responsible for the introduction of the subjects of Science, Technology and Innovation at the heart of the Portuguese Government’s policy.” This is why “this simple tribute will motivate us to continue our work of projection of the University of Porto, nationally and internationally”, said Sebastião Feyo de Azevedo, for whom “there will always be a before and after Mariano Gago”.
