FEP is about to launch a new Executive Master’s programme in Management of Retail Operations aimed at market professionals who want to enrich their knowledge and take their careers to the next level.

In partnership with MC, the programme was developed based on the constant evolution of the retail sector, which is increasingly important in the Portuguese economy.

“This Master’s degree is a testament to the FEP’s continuous search for innovation and our constant dedication to adapting our learning offer to the needs of the labour market. We are pleased to have MC as a strategic partner, a recognised national and international prestige company,” says FEP’s Dean Óscar Afonso.

With the duration of two semesters, the Master aims to provide skills to face challenges and capitalise on emerging opportunities through practical, relevant and up-to-date training.
Managers with at least five years’ experience, preferably in this sector, who want to specialise in retail operations management are the primary target.

After completing the Master’s degree, students will be able to lead teams and run the day-to-day operations of a shop or branch, manage logistics and the value chain to optimise the efficiency of operations, oversee the online sales strategy and the customer experience as well as create and run their own business in this market.

“Developing this Master’s degree in partnership with FEP materialises one of the pillars of our value proposition as a company. Investing in our people is undoubtedly a strategic lever for the growth of our business. That is why we have made a clear investment in upskilling our teams in skills critical to their duties’ performance and their internal development.

As a “long-living company”, we want to ensure that we are prepared for the future challenges of the retail sector by clearly investing in the anticipation, planning, and strategic development of our employees and our leaders, empowering them with the skills of the future. In this context, in addition to our internal work, we look for the best allies in the academic world. This strategic alliance with the FEP is so important to us. MC can count on the prestige, recognition, and quality of FEP’s teaching to accelerate our mission to qualify our people,” explains Vera Rodrigues, Head of People at MC.

The Executive Master’s in Management of Retail Operations is the University of Porto’s first executive Master’s degree and will begin on 12 February 2024. With a teaching staff of renowned experts in the field, the program combines face-to-face and online classes after after-work hours.

“Creating professional postgraduate programs in partnership with public and private employers is a strategic objective for U.Porto. We want to bring companies, civil society institutions and other agents into the classroom, fostering the co-creation of academic curricula and the implementation of innovative teaching-learning methodologies,” emphasises the Rector of the University of Porto, António de Sousa Pereira.
