FEP Professor Aurora Teixeira has just joined the Industrial Policy Strategic Assessment (IPSA) project, which aims to assess industrial policy measures and how they impact the competitiveness of the Portuguese economy. The FEP professor will be part of the Steering Committee, responsible for monitoring and liaising between the project team and the main organisations involved: Agência para a Competitividade e Inovação (IAPMEI), Centro de Competências de Planeamento, de Políticas e de Prospetiva da Administração Pública (PlanAPP), Gabinete de Planeamento, Estratégia, Avaliação e Relações Internacionais Ministério das Finanças (GPEARI) and Gabinete de Estratégia e Estudos do Ministério da Economia e do Mar (GEE).

Leading the team are two international experts: Professors Ha-Joon Chang and Antonio Andreoni from the University of London and Professor João Silva from ISCTE as the national interlocutor.

The invitation to join the Steering Committee reflects the recognition of the FEP’s relevance as a School of excellence not only in research, but also in public intervention and impact on society, with the capacity to train, inform and influence public policies in the context of the future challenges facing the Portuguese economy. From a personal point of view, it’s a privilege to be able to put my skills at the service of the country,” says Aurora Teixeira.

Throughout the twenty-four months of the project, high-level international workshops and public events will be held to disseminate the activities that will be designed and delivered. The final event will be the dissemination of the new Portuguese industrial policy.
