These days, nearly 600 local and international students are beginning a new stage in their lives, enrolling in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle courses at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP).
With the second phase of enrollment still underway and the third one scheduled for September 30, FPCEUP organises the Welcome Week. Combining institutional presentations and activities from AE-FPCEUP and the Mentoring Programme, in addition to workshops and concerts, the Welcome Week marks the official start of the new academic year under the motto, transformed into a hashtag, #AcontecenaFPCEUP (lit. It happens at FPCEUP). This motto will be present throughout the academic year and acts as an incentive to disseminate the scientific knowledge produced at the Faculty and to share the various activities (seminars, congresses, etc.) which take place in parallel to the training offer.
The opening session was attended by Director of FPCEUP Pedro Nobre, President of the Pedagogical Council José Albino Lima, AE-FPCEUP’s President Carmo Antunes, and Sofia Pais from the FPCEUP Mentoring Program. Psychology Degree students Maria João Rodrigues, Maria Soares and Miguel Pereira warmed up the session with a game that encouraged new students to share and weave (symbolically, with a ball of yarn) expectations about their upcoming University years.
The programmes continues until Friday, September 20th, with the reception of students from the U. Porto, with the activities of the Mentoring Programme and workshops focused on the importance of self-care and the “change of chip” from Secondary to Higher Education.
