The Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP) hosted the 23° Conference of the European Society of Cognitive Psychology (ESCOP) from September 6-9, 2023.

The event attracted over 850 attendees among PhD students, researchers, and professors from all over Europe and beyond. Researchers working on the most diverse topics in cognitive psychology – from language and memory to decision-making, motor cognition, motivation, and emotions, presented 360 oral contributions (among regular talks and symposia), 386 posters, and 3 keynotes.

The four days of the event were not only packed with scientific talks, poster presentations, workshops, and keynotes but also with opportunities to enjoy Porto’s touristic attractions, cuisine, and wine, thereby providing plenty of opportunities for networking. On Wednesday (Sep. 6), the conference’s opening was held in Casa da Música, one of the top city’s attractions. On Thursday (Sep. 7), participants enjoyed a show at the HotFive, one of Porto’s Jazz/Blues houses. On Friday (Sep. 8), the social dinner brought participants to the wine cellars of Casa Ferreirinha at the Douro’s banks in Gaia. Finally, on Saturday, participants enjoyed the conference’s closing and a Farewell reception at the faculty which also included a musical performance by Disco Voador.

FPCEUP was delighted to host this successful conference and wishes all the delegates who came to Porto a safe trip back home.
