The Primus Inter Pares award is a joint initiative of Banco Santander and the Expresso newspaper that aims to contribute to the development of a culture of rigour, professionalism and excellence in business management, by granting privileged opportunities for further academic training.

Aimed at final-year master students in the areas of Management, Economics or Engineering, the competition awards the three winners an MBA in a prestigious national or international Business School. The associated schools include IESE, in Barcelona, IE Business School, in Madrid, the Lisbon MBA, ISCTE, ISEG, Porto Business School and Católica Porto Business School. The 4th ranked students are offered a post-graduate course at a Portuguese university.

Applications will be accepted until 22 February 2023 and should be made through the website www.premioprimusinterpares.pt or, alternatively, sent by post to Egor, as indicated on the website.

The jury of the competition is composed of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Impresa Group, Francisco Pinto Balsemão, Pedro Castro e Almeida, Executive Chairman of Banco Santander Portugal, Estela Barbot, international senior advisor of Roland Berger, Raquel Seabra, Administrator of the company Sogrape (and former finalist of the competition), and Miguel Poiares Maduro, University Professor at the European University Institute in Florence and former Minister of State and Regional Development.

João Maria Duarte, FEP graduate, was one of the finalists in the last edition of the award.
