On 14 October, FEP held a special ceremony in the Great Hall to present the book ‘70 Anos, 70 Rostos da FEP’. The event was attended by students, alumni, professors, staff and distinguished guests, celebrating not only the history of the institution, but also the people who helped shape it.

The session began with a welcome from the FEP’s Dean, Óscar Afonso, who highlighted the importance of the work and emphasised how FEP has evolved, making a significant contribution to the northern region and the country.

The President of the Organising Committee, Fernando Freire de Sousa, continued the event, explaining the selection of the honorees. The President of the General Council of the University of Porto mentioned that the figures honoured in the book represent a balanced portrait of the FEP’s contribution to the region and the country, covering the careers of professors, businesspeople, government officials and opinion leaders.

Fernando Freire de Sousa expressed his gratitude to the Organising Committee for the FEP’s 70th Anniversary, a team that he had the pleasure of leading and which included colleagues such as Aurora Teixeira, Carlos Nunes, Francisco Porto Fernandes, Graça Moura and Óscar Afonso. She thanked them for their availability and contributions, which made it possible for the initiatives carried out to run smoothly.

The book presentation also featured speeches from prominent figures such as David Pontes, Director of Público newspaper; Sandra Santos, Non-Executive Director of BA Glass; and Mário Graça Moura, Professor at FEP, who shared their reflections on the importance of FEP in education and economic development.

The event was an exciting milestone in FEP’s history, reflecting the college’s seven-decade journey and the lasting impact it has had on its community and the world. The book was produced by Público newspaper and sponsored by Herdade do Esporão.
