Helena Freitas, Country Lead at Sanofi Portugal and former FEP student, was recently honoured by Forbes Portugal magazine as one of the five most powerful women in the healthcare category. This prestigious accolade highlights her inclusive and empathetic leadership, her innovative mindset, the visibility she has achieved in the sector and her commitment to investment and sustainability in healthcare in Portugal.
Helena Freitas expressed her pride at this nomination, emphasising the importance of her team at Sanofi. ‘This nomination is an enormous source of pride for me and an incentive to continue affirming Sanofi’s purpose of pursuing the power of science to improve people’s lives. Helena Freitas has a Bachelor in Economics from FEP and a Masters in Business Administration from AESE Business School. She began her career at Ernst & Young, where she stayed for five years, before moving into the pharmaceutical industry at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where she held various positions for 12 years. In 2016, she joined Sanofi as Director of Market Access and Public Affairs, and was appointed General Manager of the Vaccines Unit and, in 2022, Country Lead of Sanofi Portugal.
