The team “Lado Financeiro,” made up of students Alexandra Pereira da Silva Barros, Jason Silva, Pedro Neves Bento, and Vitória Queirós Ribeiro, all first-year students of the Master in Finance at the School of Economics and Management of the University of Porto (FEP), is one of the five finalists in the “My Financial Future” competition.

In this first edition of the competition, 124 teams from 27 universities participated, bringing together over 390 students. The initiative, promoted by the Banco de Portugal in partnership with the CFA Society Portugal, aims to strengthen financial literacy among young people and encourage responsible financial management.

The challenge presented to the teams involved solving a case study on key topics such as expense planning, budget management, saving, creating an emergency fund, responsible credit, and preventing financial fraud on digital channels.

The Dean of FEP, Óscar Afonso, highlighted the importance of this achievement, emphasising that reaching the final enhances the Master’s in Finance and reflects the dedication of its students and alumni. He also noted that, regardless of the outcome, the team’s participation is already a source of great pride for the institution.

The competition final, which will take place in Lisbon on 17th March, will give the FEP team the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in financial management, competing against the other four finalists for first place.
