Between 25 and 29 November, the School of Economics and Management of the University of Porto (FEP) organised the FEP International Week, an event dedicated to promoting international mobility opportunities for its students. With a diverse programme, the week offered information sessions and workshops for students interested in studying or undertaking internships abroad, as well as opportunities to learn about various mobility programmes such as Erasmus, Double Degrees, QTEM, and international internship possibilities.
Information Sessions for All Study Cycles
The FEP International Week began on 25 November with a session focused on PhD students, where Professor Ana Paula Ribeiro explained international mobility opportunities for doctoral students, including the European Doctoral Diploma and the possibility of conducting research periods at partner institutions.
In the following days, the event opened up to different audiences. The International Study Opportunities Fair, held on 26 November, allowed FEP students to meet international students who shared their experiences and cultures, fostering an environment of knowledge exchange on the various academic opportunities available outside Portugal. On the same day, the International Lunch took place, where international students shared the traditions and cultures of their home countries.
Specific sessions for undergraduate and master’s students were held throughout the week, addressing topics such as Erasmus mobility, costs, international partnerships, and available scholarships. Professors Isabel Mota and Ana Paula Ribeiro were the guest speakers for these sessions, clarifying students’ questions about the advantages of studying and interning abroad.
International Internship Opportunities and Global Careers
One of the highlights of FEP International Week was the Meet Companies session, which took place on 29 November. This two-part session offered FEP students an excellent opportunity to explore various international internship and global career opportunities. During the morning, the Meet Companies | Career Opportunities and International Internships session featured 12 FEP alumni, who, with their international careers, introduced the companies and organisations they work for and the different internship and career opportunities available to students. The session was held both in person at FEP and virtually, allowing students from various parts of the world to participate.
In addition, the How to Get a Paid Internship Abroad session addressed ways to secure paid internships abroad, a crucial topic for students seeking not only academic experience but also the opportunity to gain international professional experience.
International Mobility Programmes
FEP International Week also highlighted some of the most important programmes for FEP students. Among them, Erasmus, which offers the opportunity to study for a semester at over 100 partner universities in more than 30 countries. For Master’s and PhD students, the Double Degree programmes were also featured, which allow students to earn two degrees by studying at two different universities, and the QTEM programme, which combines academic studies with international internships in companies within its vast network.
FEP International Week was an excellent opportunity for students of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Porto to explore various international mobility possibilities, broadening their academic and professional horizons. FEP continues to invest in international mobility programmes, reinforcing its commitment to developing global citizens prepared for the challenges of an increasingly internationalised labour market.
