Sofia Canada, who holds a bachelor degree in Economics and a Master in Management from FEP, was recently awarded the José da Silva Lopes 2022 Prize, granted by Banco de Portugal, in partnership with the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation.

The award, given every two years to the best Portuguese dissertation in Economics and in Management and Business Administration, distinguished the dissertation “The Role of Business and Innovation Strategies in Company Competitive Performance in an Uncertain Context” supervised by Professor José Manuel Mendonça.

The finalists of the José da Silva Lopes 2022 Award also included two other Master’s dissertations from FEP: “The Relationship Between Portugal 2020’s Financing Programs and the Firms’ Quality of Financial Information” by Inês Martins Soares and “Towards Leadership: Unveiling the Female Path”, by Maria João Quintão Barbosa.

The student Daniela Dias Costa also saw her work distinguished among the ten best master theses on economics, having been selected to present her work as a poster.

The award was given on 14 November, during the 11th Conference of Banco de Portugal – Portuguese economic development in the European space.
